Psychosocial Support to the Children and Women Affected by HIV/AIDS (CABA) Project

Psychosocial situation of HIV/AIDS is grossly ignored because of social stigma. The situation of children affected by HIV/AIDS is even worse because of not getting adequate care and support from the relatives and community.

CABA project, in support of UNICEF-Nepal, aims to build psychosocial counselling service for the people affected and living with HIV/AIDS in Achham district. This project mainly includes training and supervision in psychosocial counselling and clinical counselling (mental health) to the local social mobilizers, NGO staffs and health workers.

This project was implemented incooperation with UNICEF Nepal and inpartnership with government and non government organizations from July 2009 to June 2010. Though the project has been phased out, trained psychosocial counsellors are able to provide effective support to CABA children and women.
